Characteristics Of Cleanrooms And Cleanliness in Various Industries Ⅰ

1. Electronics Manufacturing

Driven by the development of computers, microelectronics, and information technology, the electronics manufacturing industry has accelerated the advancement of cleanroom technology and imposed higher design requirements. The design of dust-free workshops in electronics manufacturing is a comprehensive technology-only by understanding its characteristics and ensuring rational design can product defect rates be reduced and production efficiency improved.

Key Characteristics:

i.High cleanliness class requirements, with controlled air volume, temperature, humidity, pressure difference, and equipment exhaust as needed. Illumination and cross-sectional air velocity in cleanrooms are controlled per design or specifications.

ii.Extremely strict static electricity control, particularly for humidity. Over-dry environments easily generate static electricity, damaging CMOS integrated circuits. Typically, the temperature in electronics workshops is controlled at ~22°C, with relative humidity at 50–60% (specific regulations apply to special cleanrooms). This effectively eliminates static electricity and ensures comfort.

iii.Cleanrooms for chip production, integrated circuits, and disk manufacturing are critical. They primarily control particles and floating dust, with strict regulations on temperature, humidity, fresh air volume, and noise.

Technical Specifications:

i.Noise level in 10,000-class cleanrooms (unoccupied): ≤65 dB(A).

ii.Full-area ratio of vertical flow cleanrooms: ≥60%; horizontal unidirectional flow cleanrooms: ≥40% (otherwise, partial unidirectional flow occurs).

iii.Static pressure difference between cleanrooms and the outdoors: ≥10 Pa; between cleanrooms of different cleanliness classes and non-clean areas: ≥5 Pa.

iv.Fresh air volume in 10,000-class cleanrooms: the greater of (1) the sum of make-up air for exhaust and positive pressure maintenance, or (2) ≥40 m³/h per person.

v.Heating systems in cleanroom HVAC must have fresh air over-temperature power-off protection. Point humidification systems need water shortage protection, and fresh air systems in cold regions require anti-freezing measures.

vi.Supply air volume in cleanrooms: the maximum of (1) air volume for cleanliness class maintenance, (2) air volume calculated by thermal and humidity loads, or (3) fresh air volume supply.
