Operating Room Design And Division

The operating room is an important component of cleanroom project, and its design must be very rigorous. The overall layout of operating room can be roughly divided into two parts: surgical area and non-surgical area. The internal area is divided into three zones: restricted zone, non restricted zone, and semi restricted zone.

Restricted areas include: operating room, operating room corridors, bed changing area, restroom, sterile item room, anesthesia preparation room, drug storage room, etc.

The semi restricted area includes: disinfection room, operating room outdoor walkway, washing room, auxiliary material packaging room, etc.

Non restricted areas include: changing room, office, medical staff duty room, rest room, etc.

What procedures should be followed when entering the operating room, and how should the layout of the operating room be designed?

A standard operating room usually has three entrances and exits, patient entrance and exit, doctor and nurse entrance and exit, and goods entrance and exit. In addition, there are three buffer entrances, clean space entrance, sterile bag entrance, and goods and other consumables entrance. The design of the entrances and exits must comply with the principles of isolation, protection, and avoiding cross infection. The clean area and contaminated area must be separated.

Before designing an operating room, it is important to clarify its purpose and determine its level.

Operating rooms are generally divided into three levels: hundred level operating rooms, thousand level operating rooms, and ten thousand level operating rooms, which are distinguished according to different surgical procedures and cleanliness requirements.

Grade 100 operating room, also known as Grade I operating room, is mainly used for surgeries with high risk factors and strict cleanliness requirements, such as neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, organ transplantation surgery, etc.

A Class 1000 operating room, also known as a Class II operating room, is mainly used for surgeries with certain risk factors and moderate cleanliness requirements, such as orthopedic surgery. A Class 10000 operating room, also known as a Class III operating room, has a lower risk factor and lower cleanliness requirements than Class 100 or Class 1000 operating rooms. It is mainly used in gynecology, dentistry, ophthalmology, and other fields.
