Epoxy flooring is a common type of floor decoration material, featuring advantages such as wear resistance, dust prevention, and ease of cleaning. But, in certain specific circumstances, due to environmental conditions or foundation issues, the construction of epoxy flooring may encounter some limitations.
1. Insufficient or excessive temperature
The construction of epoxy flooring requires appropriate temperature conditions. Both excessively low or high temperatures will affect the construction outcome. When the temperature is too low, the curing time of the epoxy resin will be prolonged, thereby affecting the curing effect; while when the temperature is too high, the epoxy flooring is prone to cracking and delamination, which will affect the overall quality and service life of the flooring.
2. Humid Environment
A humid environment is strictly prohibited for epoxy floor coating construction. This is because humidity can affect the bonding effect between the epoxy resin and the floor base material, resulting in poor adhesion and even issues such as blistering and delamination. Therefore, constructing epoxy floors in a humid environment is likely to cause quality problems in the project and reduce the lifespan of the floor.
3. Unstable ground foundation or severe cracks
Epoxy flooring needs to be constructed on a solid and flat foundation. If the ground foundation is unstable or has severe cracks, it will affect the flatness and stability of the epoxy flooring, causing the floor to warp, crack, and other problems, which will affect the overall appearance and service life of the floor.



4. Presence of oil or chemical contaminants on the ground
If there are oil or chemical contaminants on the ground, it will affect the adhesion between the epoxy resin and the ground substrate, resulting in problems such as blistering and delamination of the floor. Moreover, the presence of chemical substances may react chemically with the epoxy resin, reducing the corrosion resistance of the epoxy floor.
5. High-intensity Mechanical Work Areas
In areas where high-intensity mechanical operations are required, such as areas where heavy machinery and forklifts frequently travel, applying epoxy flooring may suffer from excessive pressure, resulting in wear, deformation, or even detachment, which can affect the lifespan and stability of the flooring. In such cases, applying a wear-resistant overlay layer or choosing a wear-resistant cured flooring option can be an appropriate solution.
6. Environments with strong acids and strong bases
When constructing epoxy flooring in environments with strong acids and strong bases, the epoxy resin will react with the chemical substances, reducing the corrosion resistance of the flooring and affecting its service life and stability. Therefore, in such special environments, special flooring materials with acid and alkali resistance properties need to be selected for construction.
